About

Art has the profound ability to transcend boundaries and touch the deepest parts of our souls—revealing truths and potentials we may have never known. Through my work, I explore and channel this transformative energy to empower people to envision and create lives they want to live and love.

The pieces I create are a celebration of vulnerability, freedom, reclaiming, courage, adventure, and, most importantly, self-love. I believe that art acts as a mirror to our innermost selves—reflecting our inner child and guiding us toward who we are becoming. It offers us Support when words fail, invites us into Spirituality through the act of creation, and nurtures a sense of Security through self-expression.

“Self-love is the precursor to your greatest love.”

Self-love, the cornerstone of my work, is expressed through reflections, gentle embraces, and tender self-portraits—affirming the importance of cherishing one’s self-worth, beauty, and emotional truth.

As you engage with my art, I hope you feel inspired to embrace the 4 Self-Soothing Creative Steps (SSCS™): Support, Self-Love, Spirituality, and Security.

These are the pillars that shaped my healing and now guide my offerings to the world. May you find in my work the courage to dream boldly, live freely, love deeply, and—above all—let art be your becoming.

A Little About Me

Hi, my name is Antonia, also known as Amja of Amja Unabashedly—the creative wellbeing hub where love, art, and inspiration empower.

I’m a self-taught visual and performance artist, poet, podcast host, public speaker, and mother of four incredible “Womb Gems.” I’m often smiling, laughing, or pulling silly faces—even while creating. I’m also an Ambassador for Woman’s Trust, the mental health charity offering therapy to women who’ve experienced domestic abuse.

After navigating what I call the “Intangible Proof of Domestic Abuse”—my lived experience of coercive control—I was diagnosed with PTSD and left feeling like my identity had been stolen.

My Reclamation

On my path to healing, Advance invited me into an art project where artist Rachel Gadsden encouraged me to tell my story on canvas. At the time, I didn’t know I could paint. But I chose courage. I trusted the process. I chose me.

That first piece, “Perception”, became a visual anthem of Support, truth, and transformation. It marked the beginning of my creative and spiritual awakening—and the birth of Amja Unabashedly.

As I painted, mothered, and reflected, I began to ask soul-searching questions:

“What do I want for my life?”

“How can I use my lived experience and corporate skills to make meaningful change?”

The answer emerged through bold colour and unapologetic storytelling.

Vision

By fusing my love of art and public speaking, my vision is to create art, conversations, and spaces that empower people—especially those impacted by domestic abuse or trauma—to reclaim their joy, freedom, and purpose through the SSCS pillars.

Whether through a canvas, workshop, or keynote stage, I invite you to journey from surviving to thriving—supported, seen, and celebrated.

Mission

My mission is to share my fine art and lived wisdom with the world, guided by the 4 Self-Soothing Creative Steps (SSCS):

  • Support – creating safe spaces where your truth is honoured
  • Self-Love – recognising your worth, unlearning shame, and embracing joy
  • Spirituality – honouring the sacred within, beyond systems and labels
  • Security – reclaiming your agency, voice, and peace

Through exhibitions, courses, speaking, and digital offerings, I aim to use my story—and my brush—as a force for healing, advocacy, and creative liberation.

“The gift is the present of now.”

“Art as Advocacy”

As you walk this path with me, whether through a painting, a print, a quote, or a moment of pause, may you feel encouraged to be creatively courageous or courageously creative. And as I always say…

Let art be your becoming.

With love and light,

Amja♥️
