About Amja

My name is Antonia Lee, also known as Amja, a name formed from the initials of the names my mother gave me and reclaimed as part of my journey into authorship and autonomy.

I am a contemporary artist, Narrative Alignment Architect, speaker and facilitator. Through art, creative strategy and structured reflection, I help individuals and organisations explore the narratives that shape identity, leadership and culture.

Everything I create begins with a simple belief:

When we change the stories we live by, we change what becomes possible.

Art as a Way of Life

I didn't set out to become an artist.

When I couldn't find the language for what I was experiencing, art became that language.

What began as a deeply personal creative practice became a way of understanding identity, reclaiming authorship and making visible what often remains unseen.

Today, that same creative process underpins my artwork, facilitation, consultancy and public speaking.

My Story of Becoming

My creative journey began when Advance invited me to take part in an art project for women who had experienced domestic abuse, led by artist Rachel Gadsden.

I recognised that invitation as an offering, and I said yes.

My first painting, Perception, marked the beginning of Amja Unabashedly and the realisation that surviving to thriving is the art of conscious awareness.

It wasn't simply the beginning of my artistic practice. It was the beginning of seeing myself differently.

"When I didn't have the language for what I was experiencing, art became that language."

From Artwork to Framework

As my body of work grew, recurring themes began to emerge.

Those observations later became the Self-Soothing Creative Steps (SSCS™) Framework, a creative framework that now informs my consultancy, facilitation and speaking.

The artwork came first.

The framework followed.

Community and Continuity

My connection with Advance, where I first discovered the transformative power of art, and later with Woman's Trust, where I now serve as an Ambassador, continues to shape my practice.

Community is not an audience to me. It is where many of my ideas have been nurtured, challenged and strengthened.

Those experiences became the foundation for co-founding Let Art Be Your Becoming™, a community-centred initiative created to make creative reflection, connection and becoming more accessible to individuals, charities and grassroots organisations.

Support isn't simply one of my creative pillars.

It's my practice.

Looking Forward

Whether I'm creating an original artwork, facilitating a workshop, advising organisations or speaking from a stage, my purpose remains the same:

to create spaces where people can see themselves, one another and the stories they carry with greater clarity.

I believe creativity doesn't simply change what we make.

It changes how we see.

And that changes what becomes possible.
